The Davenport Hotel and Tower Begins 2008 on "Gold List"
Only hotel in Inland Northwest to make the list
Spokane - The Davenport Hotel and Tower begins 2008 on the coveted "Gold List"
of the "world's best places to stay," according to the international travel authority, Condé
Nast Traveler magazine (cover reproduced above). The Davenport is the only hotel in
the Inland Northwest to make the list. (No other hotel in eastern Washington, Idaho
or Montana made the list). Only 242 properties among all hotels in the United States,
and only 721 properties world-wide, made the magazine's fourteenth annual Gold List.
"This list confirms we are peers with the best hotels in the world," says Lynnelle Caudill,
managing director of The Davenport Hotel and Tower. "Our best rewards are guests
who are glad they came, sorry to leave and eager to return."
The Davenport Hotel originally opened in 1914 as "one of America's exceptional hotels,"
then closed in 1985. After an extensive renovation, the grand hotel re-opened in 2002.
The Davenport Hotel first made the Gold list in 2007, then added a Tower. The
Davenport Hotel and Tower, today, offers 611 guest rooms, making it the fourth largest
hotel in Washington state. The Gold List is decided by the comments of more than
28,000 readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, among the most well-traveled
people in the world. Condé Nast Traveler magazine is available online at:
