Semiahmoo Resort associate sales director Cynay Smith receives prestigious industry award
BLAINE, Washington— Cynay Smith, associate director of sales at Semiahmoo Resort, was recently named Associate Member of the Year by the Washington Society of Association Executives (WSAE).
Presented at the WSAE annual award ceremony, held in Woodinville on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, the award recognizes Smith’s leadership and involvement within the Washington association community.
A member of the organization for more than six years, Smith has served as the WSAE committee chair for the Associate Relations Committee, has participated on the Convention Planning Committee and has completed two terms as an associate representative to the WSAE Board.
“Cynay has contributed so much to WSAE and to the association community in Washington,” said Donna Cameron, WSAE executive director. “She is a relationship-builder and a thoughtful and creative participant.”
Smith, who has specialized in the association market for more than 15 years, said she joined the organization to network with association executives, learn as much as possible about their jobs and to establish both herself and Semiahmoo Resort as reliable partners in meeting the convention planning needs of associations.
“It is an honor to have someone from our sales team recognized in this manner by the leaders of the association industry,” said Patty Guglielmino, executive director of sales and catering at Semiahmoo Resort’s parent company, Skagit Valley Casino Resort. “Cynay has been a valuable asset to our team for eight years, and this award is a testament to her dedication and commitment to her field.”
Each year, the Associate Member of the Year Award is presented to a WSAE member who has made a major contribution to the Washington association community and to the WSAE.
WSAE has approximately 270 members representing organizations and support businesses across Washington State.
