WILDHORSE RESORT AND CASINO AWARDS $2.2 MILLION MEGABUCKS® MEGAJACKPOT®
(Pendleton, OR – March 24, 2010) – A retired man from LaGrande, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $2,290,838 when he hit a Megabucks® MegaJackpot® at Wildhorse Resort and Casino on Tuesday, March 23rd.
The winner said he was on his way home from the Tri-Cities area when he decided to visit Wildhorse. Although he chose the winning machine at random, the winner did say he brought his good luck charm with him. “My wife. We’ve been married for 42 years.” After investing around $100 into the winning machine, the winner reported being surprised to learn he had won the top progressive prize. “I did not realize I had won the big jackpot!” he explained. The new millionaire went on to say he was most excited to share the news with his children. “They will think we are kidding” he commented. Immediate plans for the MegaJackpot® millionaire will include finishing a remodeling project, and “taking a trip to Hawaii.”
Tuesday’s MegaJackpot® prize is the second to be paid at the casino this year. On January 12th, Wildhorse awarded a $144,666 Wheel of Fortune® quarters MegaJackpot®. Last year the casino paid an amazing $1,208,464 Twilight Zone! ® Video Slots® penny MegaJackpot®. Tuesday’s hit is the fourth MegaJackpot® over one million dollars to be paid at Wildhorse. Wildhorse Resort and Casino has now awarded nearly $18 million in IGT MegaJackpot® prize money since 1997. In fact, Wildhorse holds the state record for largest MegaJackpot® paid to date. In June of 1999, the casino awarded an astounding $9.1 million on the Megabucks® progressive system.
The casino, along with over 300 tribal casinos across the nation, belongs to a 17-state Native American progressive gaming network. The network is made up of casinos that carry progressive gaming systems distributed by IGT. Each time a coin is played in a linked machine,
anywhere in the network, the cumulative jackpot continues to grow. Megabucks® is a dollar progressive system in which the player bets two to three dollars at a time while attempting to line up the Megabucks® symbols that will trigger the MegaJackpot®. The Megabucks® progressive jackpot starts at $1 million.
