Hollywood is sweet on British Columbia.
And you'll be too. Our natural good looks have a way of getting rave reviews. In recent years, we've made a name for ourselves as Hollywood north, and are now the third largest film and television production center in all of North America. But you won't find many B.C. residents lounging poolside. We're more apt to go skiing and hiking in our abundant natural wilderness. And you'll be treated to that same outdoor lifestyle when you hold your next meeting or event here.
B.C. has the oldest and largest trees in Canada. And with the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Rocky Mountains to the east, there's a lot to see and do in Canada's westernmost province. Our coastline boasts hundreds of islands. And our interior is equally captivating, with all kinds of rivers, lakes, glaciers and several mountain ranges to explore. The Thompson Okanagan is a scenic agricultural breadbasket that includes an extensive wine country-as well as plenty of facilities to hold your next convention, conference, meeting or retreat.
But we're not all about nature. We're home to one of the cosmopolitan cities on the West Coast: Vancouver. You can hear all kinds of languages spoken on the street and sample restaurants that offer entrees from around the world. All together, some 35,000 immigrants from across the globe arrive at our shores each year. But we're also true to our British roots. You can enjoy a traditional English tea in our capital, Victoria, on Vancouver Island, and eat plenty of pub fare there. And when you hold your conference or convention in Vancouver, few can pass up a chance to visit Stanley Park, with its lovely gardens, aquarium, beaches, trails and totem poles.
Our world famous ski resort, Whistler, was selected to host the 2010 Winter Olympics. It's just a short drive from downtown Vancouver, so you can easily spend your time on the slopes when you're not busy at your meeting or event. If you're American, your dollar goes further in Canada too. So come on up and see us some time. We'll be sure to give you the star treatment. Just be sure you turn to the Pacific Northwest Meeting Planners Guide to help you every step of the way.
